A brief history of Postecoglu Tottenham's new manager and why they need him
Australian football (soccer) coach who has had a successful career both domestically and internationally. Postecoglou was born on August 27, 1965, in Athens, Greece, but moved to Australia with his family at a young age.
Postecoglou began his coaching career in the 1990s and has since managed several Australian club teams, including South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar. He achieved significant success with Brisbane Roar, leading the team to back-to-back A-League titles in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.
Internationally, Postecoglou was appointed as the head coach of the Australian national team, known as the Socceroos, in 2013. Under his guidance, Australia won the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, their first major international tournament victory. Postecoglou's coaching style was praised for his emphasis on an attacking, possession-based game.
In 2017, Postecoglou stepped down as the head coach of the Socceroos after successfully guiding them to qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. After leaving the national team, he took on a coaching role with Yokohama F. Marinos in the J1 League, the top division of Japanese football. In his first season with the club in 2019, he led them to the league title, becoming the first Australian coach to achieve such a feat in a major league.
Ange Postecoglou's coaching philosophy and achievements have made him a respected figure in the world of football.
As Spurs have been incompetent for a large part of 20 years with very less success, the club may need a manager as his attacking and possession-based style of play could be different from the mundane style of football In 2022, he has a proven track record of success, both domestically and internationally, which could bring a winning mentality, additionally, his focus on youth development could benefit the club's reputation for nurturing young talents. Lastly, Postecoglou's ability to build a long-term project and shape teams may suit Spurs' aspirations for sustained success.
Conte was brought in last year to change the mentality of the club but the incompetence of the board to back him led to his backlash in the media....hopefully, nothing as drastic happens this time as they need competent managers backed by a board willing to buy players.....their over reliance on Kane is very evident. There is no right manager but this is a step in the right direction... they need to support Postecoglu long-term to reap the rewards.
